I have been writing for as long as I can remember. I wrote a play in the second grade (and performed it for the third graders!) I wrote a short story that made my neighbor cry. I wrote a poem at eleven that I had the chance to publish.
In college, I took a creative writing class and a creative non-fiction writing class as well. (Creative non-fiction. It’s a thing. A wonderful, wonderful thing.)
And now, at 27 years old, I’m in the process of writing a book. And by “in the process” I mean that I’ve written 6 versions of the same story in the last three years and finally decided on which version I want to continue with. I finished chapter two, yesterday. I started chapter three today.
I feel very accomplished at this point. Ya know, considering I’ve only had about five pages written in three years. Now I’m up to 26…ish.
The working title is “The Piano.” And if I were to describe it, I would have to say it’s an emotional rollercoaster about self-discovery and overcoming demons. I can’t wait to finish it and have you all read it! I’m trying to stay motivated and get it into the editing stages. I’ve given myself a deadline. June 1st. I want to be editing by this summer.
I have a few other writing projects in mind. A non-fiction piece. A collection of short stories. Possibly a collection of poetry as well. BUT I need to stay focused on one at a time. I’m not the best at multi-tasking. (You can ask my husband, he’ll vouch for that.)
Keep your eyes peeled for updates on “The Piano.” I can’t wait to share a release date with all of you!
